Coronavirus Action Fund

In May 2020, our team set up the Coronavirus Action Fund to help fund the work of our researchers to understand the immunology, virology, and genetics of Covid-19. I led on the promotion of the Fund, as well as providing input on copy for its dedicated webpage.

I worked closely with colleagues across the university to develop accurate, informative web content about our Covid-19 research that would be accessible to a widely range of audiences.

As part of our promotion of the Fund, I interviewed leading St George's virologist, Dr Elisabetta Groppelli - who was named as one of the top 100 Health Professionals influencing the Covid-19 conversation - about her own Covid-19 fundraising efforts. This story had a reach of over 7,000 and was clicked more than 400 times on our alumni Facebook page. View the story here.

The fund featured in a number of local news stories and websites sharing the efforts of Universities to tackle the disease, including MyLondon.

The story was also shared on our internal channels, prompting several St George's staff and alumni to carry out their own fundraisers, raising an additional £2,000 in JustGiving income in support of the Fund.
